Baylor Director of Athletics and Vice President Ian McCaw resigned from his position on Monday.

“After much reflection and prayer, I have decided that a change in athletics department leadership is in Baylor University’s best interest in order to promote the unity, healing and restoration that must occur in order to move forward. I have always sought to put the University’s needs ahead of my own. My time at Baylor has been an incredible journey filled with some of the most remarkable people I have ever known. I am grateful to Baylor Nation for its support and dedication, and to all who have done so much to advance the athletics program,” McCaw said in a statement.

Ian McCaw has been the director since 2003. During his time at Baylor, the university has won four national team championships and 56 Big 12 Conference championships.

Before coming to Baylor, he spent time as Director of Athletics at the University of Massachusetts.

McCaw was named 2014-15 FBS NACDA Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year. He was also a finalist for the 2012 and 2015 Sports Business Journal Athletics Director of the Year.

This decision comes days after Art Briles termination. Briles was terminated after Pepper Hamilton's report revealed the university failed to prioritize Title IX implementation and support for complainants through interim measures was inconsistent.
