WACO, Texas - Baylor men's tennis senior Julian Lenz will begin play in the NCAA Singles Championship against Wake Forest’s Petros Chrysochos Wednesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Lenz, the Big 12 Conference’s Player of the Year, is currently ranked No. 12 in the country in singles, while his first round opponent, Chrysochos, is No. 27 in the latest ITA listings. The match is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Lenz earned one of 50 at-large bids into the 64-man singles bracket and is seeded in the 9-16 range of the bracket. Lenz’s selection marks the 15-consecutive year that the Bears have had at least one competitor in the NCAA singles draw.

The senior has racked up a 26-5 singles record overall and a 21-3 mark in dual-match play. He is 15-5 against ranked foes.

Lenz will be participating in his fourth-straight NCAA Singles Championship. He lost in the first round in his first two trips, before making it to the second round a season ago.

If the Giessen, Germany, product wins Wednesday’s opening round match, he will face the winner of Columbia’s Shawn Hadavi and Florida’s Alfredo Perez on Thursday. Hadavi is No. 81 in the country, while Perez is ranked No. 53.
