Temple will be participating in National Take Our daughters and Son to work day on Thursday.

Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day was created in New York in the summer of 1992 by the Ms. Foundation for Women. The first celebration took place on Thursday, April 22, 1993.

There is a sense of camaraderie and community that is built when we all participate together, on the same day,” said Heather Bates, Executive Assistant to the City Manager and coordinator for the City of Temple’s event.

Designed to be more than a career day, the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day program goes beyond the average practice of shadowing an adult. The program exposes what a mentor does throughout the day and their responsibilities.

Bates continued, “The City of Temple is very happy to participate with our staff and their children! We love what we do for our citizens and to know that we are helping shape the minds of these kids is a great feeling and makes what we do even more special.”
