First Book will be donating 40,000 free books to Waco, China Spring, La Vega and McGregor educators, schools and students and families in need.

The event will be at the Waco ISD Warehouse on 2025 S 19th St on Saturday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

First Book is donating in the name of late Texas AFT President Linda Bridges, who dedicated her life to providing all students with a quality education.

Educators and school staff who serve in Title 1 eligible schools will be able to select 40 books.

Low-income families can come and pick up to five books per child.

“I can’t think of a better way to honor Linda’s legacy than bringing free books to educators, students and families,” current Texas AFT President Louis Malfaro said. “She saw the power of combining AFT members’ ability to reach students in need and First Book’s access to books and supplies, so together we can help all children succeed in school and life.”
