The City of Temple’s wastewater system has experienced significant wastewater overflows in two areas due to last week’s storms and rainfall, the city announced in a release on Monday.

Lion’s Park, which is currently closed, had a wastewater overflow of 230,000 gallons and the 2400 block of S. 61st Street had 73,000 gallons.

The city advises residents to be cautious in the affected areas, including drainages and small streams. In the meantime, Public Works crews are performing cleanup and disinfection in these areas.

“These events in no way harm the City of Temple’s water supply.  City of Temple residents should not experience any interruption of water services,” according to the city’s news release.
