A Baylor basketball star is out on bond after being arrested for shoplifting from a Waco Walmart.

Police say they received the report from the Walmart on Franklin Ave. on June 3 about the theft that happened around midnight on June 1. The store had reportedly identified the shoplifter as All-Big 12 forward Rico Gathers after watching surveillance video.

Gathers is accused of taking nearly $200 worth of household items, including a trash can, two pillows, a tote bag, and a water dispenser, without paying for them. Employees say they saw him put those items in a shopping cart and walk out of the store.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Gathers turned himself into police on Tuesday, June 9. He was charged with theft over $50 and under $500, a class B misdemeanor.

Gathers later paid bail and was released on $1,000 bond.
