A 29-year-old Leon County man who had recently been added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list is now back behind bars after being arrested in Dallas.
Acting on anonymous tips and information from witnesses, the Leon County Sheriff's Office went to an apartment in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas to search for Dennis Ray Sandoval on Saturday.
With help from the North Texas Fugitive Task Force, authorities conducted surveillance of the complex. Sandoval, who is an escapee from the Freestone County Sheriff's Office and a Texas Top Ten Fugitive Sex Offender, was found to be at the apartment complex.
He was arrested following a foot chase that crossed US 67 and ended in a wooded lot near the complex.
The Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County District Attorneys Office, US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Texas Department of Public Safety CID, North Texas Fugitive Task Force and the Dallas Police Department all help in the investigation and arrest of Sandoval.
The Department of Public Safety has added Dennis Ray Sandoval, of Leon County, to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list.
A $3,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to Sandoval's arrest. Leon County Crime Stoppers is also offering an additional reward for his arrest.
29-year-old Sandoval is listed as a violent sex offender, and is wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, escape and bond forfeiture. He was arrested for criminal trespass in Freestone County back on May 24, but later escaped from custody.
His criminal history includes sexual assault of a child, forgery, and drug possession. Sandoval has ties to Dallas and the Freestone and Leon County areas, including Buffalo and Fairfield.
Sandoval is 6-feet-4 inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds, and has various tattoos on his arms, chest, and right shoulder.
