MEXIA, TX — A man's body was found Friday afternoon after a postal service employee reported a "foul odor" coming from a Mexia home.
Around 1 p.m. on October 30, Mexia Police and Fire Department personnel were called out to a home in the 300 block of South Ross Street after a United States Postal Service employee reported a foul odor coming from the home.
When officers arrived, they located a deceased man.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Charles Robert Carter of Mexia.
A preliminary assessment indicates that Carter suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Carter's remains have been transported to Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for an autopsy.
Authorities say no further details are available at this time.
