10 dogs found dead after house fire in Temple

Temple firefighters responded to a house fire Wednesday night.

According to Temple Fire and Rescue, at 7:12 p.m. they responded to a house fire in the 500 block of East Avenue I. Firefighters arrived and observed flames coming from the outside corner of a single-story wood framed house.

Firefighters found no people in the house, but there were dogs found. During an investigation, the Fire Marshal’s Office said there were 10 dogs found dead inside the house.

The inside of the home received extensive damage and a dollar loss to the home and its contents have not been calculated.

The fire was under control at 7:25 p.m. The fire department responded with 10 units and 24 personnel.

An investigation continues to find out what caused the fire.
