NAVARRO COUNTY, TX — The Navarro County Sheriff's Office arrested a former high school teacher for allegedly cutting a child with a pair of scissors.

According to the sheriff's office, 66-year-old Patrick James Navin allegedly picked up a pair of scissors during a lecture and used the sharp end of the scissors across a student's forearm, breaking the skin and leaving a red whelp.

He was arrested on April 5.

The report states that Navin said "and this is how cells reproduce," and put the scissors on the desk like nothing happened.

Navin was a former Mildred High School chemistry teacher.

He was charged and booked into the Navarro County Jail. His bond is set at $25,000.
