MEXIA, TX — A man allegedly shot a weapon into the air after an argument broke out at a Mexia park.
The City of Mexia says around 7:48 p.m., the Limestone County Dispatch received a report of gunfire near the Hughes City Park in Mexia.
When the Mexia Police Department and Limestone County Sheriff's Office arrived, authorities found several people arguing both inside and outside a residence in the vicinity of S. Bonham Street and E. Titus Street.
Officers initially detained four people for questioning. Further investigation revealed an argument had previously erupted among people at Mexia's Hughes City Park. One person allegedly discharged a weapon in the air. No one was injured during the incident.
Mexia PD has opened an investigation into the incident. Twenty-year-old Reggie Jones was initially detained then subsequently arrested and charged with deadly conduct. He will be held at the Limestone County Jail while awaiting a bond hearing.
