GULF OF MEXICO — Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Gulf of Mexico, and a tropical storm warning has been issued for the northeast Mexico coast.

Impacts to Texas will be minimal. South Texas will experience periods of high wind and rain. The Texas coastline could see higher than normal tides and rip currents.

The system is continuing to trek westward into Mexico where it'll greatly weaken once it moves over land.

Peak Atlantic hurricane season is September 10.
