WACO, TX — The local chapter of the "Society of Lazy and Carefree Runners" (SLACR) will hold its 2nd Annual Brazos River 0.5K on October 13!

A 0.5K is about one third of a mile or a little over a lap around a track! The group jokingly says, "Come join us for a strenuous test of endurance!"

Free adult beverages will also be served after the event -- "to help with hydration," according to event hosts.

There will be a costume contest with prizes going to the best male, best female, best group and pet. The race will also feature live music, both during the run and after the very "strenuous activity."

It will be held in the Brazos Park East in Waco. All registered participants receive a custom finisher's medal, 0.5K sticker and t-shirt.

Packet pickup is being held Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Location of the packet pick-up is to be determined.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:

  • 10 a.m. - Race day packet pick-up
  • 11 a.m. - Test of Endurance begins!
  • 11:15 a.m. - Costume Contest Awards Presentation
  • Music and after-party will go until 1 p.m.
