WACO, TX — Meals on wheels Waco is experiencing an increase in calls of seniors who need support during the pandemic.

When stay at home orders were set in place, more seniors found themselves stuck at home and reached out to meals on wheels Waco.

Executive director Debbie King says they have added 230 seniors to the list of those who get meals five days a week.

She says they are doing everything they can to support seniors in the community.

“Since February we have increased 30 percent the number of meals that we send out on a day to day basis and its been growing gradually but it is not stopping. I am in the nervous phase right now where I can see the end of the money and I concerned,” Debbie King said.

As of now, they are providing five meals a week to over 800 people across McLennan, Hill and Falls County.
