HARKER HEIGHTS, TEXAS — The Harker Heights Pet Adoption Center is seeking for information regarding a neglected animal found last Wednesday.

The emaciated and weak male dog was picked up from Kern Park in Harker Heights on May 1.

On Friday, Animal Protection Officer Shiloh Wester said the extent of his medical condition is unknown. However, he has been during veterinary care during his 72-hour stray hold at the shelter.

"He cannot stand at this point, but is slowly gaining strength and can hold his head up for a short time, which is improvement," said Wester.

The dog is expected to be sent to a rescue group to continue his medical treatment and care after it leaves the shelter.

Wester said staff appreciates the support from the community to help the animal.

At this point, the shelter is requesting anyone with information about the animal or its owner, to contact the Harker Heights Pet Adoption Center at 254-953-5472.
