Burn Ban Issued For Lampasas County

WACO- The Lampasas County Commisioner's Court has ordered that all outdoor burning is banned for 90 days beginning one minute past 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2008. 

The exceptions to this burn ban are household trash burned in a barrel with a screen on top and barbeque pits for cooking.  The only other exceptions are for agricultural purposes with prior approval from the Lampasas County Fire Marshall and outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety that are authorized by the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality for:

  1. firefighter training
  2. public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations
  3. Planting or harvesting of agricultural crops
  4. burns that are conducted by a prescribed burn manager certified under the Natural Recources Code

Violaters of the order is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
