WACO-  New details emerge in the case of an alleged domestic murder.  This information was revealed during a custody hearing over murder suspect, Ronnie Hughes' children.

A detective from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office said the victim had a bruise next to her eye that was the shape of a "W," and the bruise matched the cylinder of the revolver Lana Hughes was shot with.

Attorneys for the victim's family say this suggests Ronnie hit Lana in the head with the gun before he shot her in chest, so the shooting wasn't accidental like Huges claims it was.

Lana's sister was at the Axtell house in January.  She says just before the shooting, the couple was fighting because Lana was getting calls from her boyfriend and Ronnie couldn't accept that their marriage was over.  Six witnesses testified they were aware of Ronnie threatening Lana before her death.

Since this was a hearing deciding if Ronnie or Lana's family would have custody of their 8-year-old and 11-year-old daughters, family and friends of Ronnie's took the stand and said he's a loving father whose girls need him.

The judge gave Ronnie primary custody of his daughters.  Hughes has not been indicted on the murder charge, but the judge said if he's indicted custody will be reconsidered.

The McLennan County Sheriff's Office says they are waiting for the crime scene to be reconstructed before they present the case to the grand jury and it's unclear when that will be.
