Please allow this correspondence to serve as a formal letter of commendation for Providence employee, Amy Dirkes. On December 6, 2004 I was admitted for an emergency Cesarean section and shortly thereafter became the proud mother of a healthy boy, albeit a month earlier than expected. When my husband and I arrived at Providence in the wee hours of the morning we were not expecting to stay more than a couple of hours, as we were convinced that it was not yet time for us to welcome our son.
Upon our arrival at the hospital, we were warmly greeted and I was thoroughly examined by Ms. Dirske. We were shocked to learn from her that our son was ready to be delivered. Having had no time to mentally prepare myself for what was about to occur, I became extremely apprehensive about the situation. Ms. Dirske went out of her way to comfort both myself and my nervous husband, taking the time to thoroughly explain to us exactly what we should expect. She stayed by our side throughout the operation and the remainder of the night. Her unwavering patience and reassuring encouragement was truly a blessing for my husband and I. We will forever be grateful to her for her professionalism and compassion. Providence and her patients are fortunate to have such an employee.
