Dr. Michael Attas earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed and internship and residency training in internal medicine at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He completed fellowship training at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky where he also served as Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine and Senior Cardiology Fellow. Dr. Attas earned a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in ethics and moral theology from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Attas has held several teaching appointments and is currently the Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Practice and Family Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, the Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Texas A&M University Health Science Center, and the Director of Medical Humanities; Institute of Faith and Learning; Baylor University. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the McLennan County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Society, and the American Hearth Association. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the McLennan County Medical Education & Research Foundation. Dr. Attas is an ordained priest and serves as Assistant Rector at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco, Texas. He currently practices at Waco Cardiology Associates in Waco.
