The Cardiac Nursing and Step Down Unit provides specialized nursing care to patients requiring diagnostic evaluation and/or treatments of medical diagnoses, or those patients requiring surgery. The unit provides nursing care to all ages of patients, with a major emphasis on cardiology and cardiovascular patient. Nursing care is focused on individual patients undergoing cardiovascular surgeries including coronary artery bypass, heart valve replacements, resection of aneurysms, lung resections, and pacemaker placement. Twenty-four hour care is delivered to these patients in 30 private rooms. This specialized unit has the ability to provide cardiac patient monitoring by means of portable units and also hard-wired permanent cardiac monitoring units. The cardiac monitoring area is attended around the clock by technicians and nurses specially training in comprehensive cardiac care.
