Pilot Killed in Limestone County Plane Crash

LIMESTONE COUNTY - The Texas Department of Public Safety tells News Channel 25 a small experimental plane has gone down in rural Limestone County.

The Limestone County Sheriff's Department says the body of the pilot, 26-year old Jeremy Paul Stripling, a former student at Baylor, has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy. The Nacogdoches native was the only person on board.

A DPS helicopter spotted the wreckage near Limestone County Roads 633 and 631 southwest of Groesbeck around 1:30 Friday afternoon.

The National Transportation Safety Board tells News Channel 25 the plane was a Trinidad TB-20 and left from the Waco Regional Airport and was headed to Lufkin. The pilot lost contact with Waco Air Traffic Control around 11:45 a.m. The pilot last said he was in trouble.

Sheriff's deputies and NTSB investigors are on the scene.
