Chip and Joanna Gaines have purchased the historic Cottonland Castle in Waco.

According to Magnolia spokesman John Marsicano, the two have admired the castle on Austin Avenue for two decades.

He said they have admired the property as a hallmark of the Castle Heights neighborhood.

The two have attempted to purchase the castle in the past before.

In a statement Marsicano said:

The property is an iconic piece of Waco’s history and while specific plans have not yet been determined, one thing is for certain: their efforts will focus on fully completing the home’s long overdue and well-deserved restoration.

The castle has been around since the late 1800s.

When Waco’s cotton-based economy flourished in the 1900s, a tenant sold the structure to Ripley Hanrick. It was still unfinished.

The castle was eventually completed in 1913.

The materials such as marble and mahogany embellished the interior of the castle. It later became a focal point for the Castle Heights area.
