WACO, tx — A Central Texas school surpassed its goal for a cancer research fundraiser this month.
Students and staff at Waco's Harmony Science Academy raised more than $4,400 throughout their Pennies for Patients Fundraising Campaign, which will go toward supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The efforts are in honor of Andy Hernandez, a sixth-grade student battling leukemia.
His family also donated over $400 to the cause.
"I just think it shows what support and care we have as a community that we came together for an important cause," Harmony Science Academy Principal Lindy Ermoian said.
