PUEBLO, Colo. — A man was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after officers found him driving a car without a steering wheel, police said.

A Pueblo police officer spotted a slow-moving car with blinking turn signals at East Northern Avenue and South Santa Fe Avenue around 4 a.m. Friday and stopped to see if he could help.

When he approached the vehicle, the officer noticed the steering wheel was in the driver’s lap and the man was using vice grips to control the car, police said.

Another officer arrived and asked the driver, Anastacio Baralla, if he had any weapons and Baralla responded “I might,” and reached under his leg, according to police. The officer grabbed Baralla, who resisted, and another officer used a Taser to subdue him, police said.

Baralla was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, driving with a revoked license, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
