The Waco Police Department is warning citizens of a scam targeting the elderly.
The scam, called the "Grandparent scam", has resulted in a large loss in the community. They said the scammers pretend to be a loved one in trouble, needing immediate financial assistance.
Police suggest visiting with your elders and making sure they are aware of this type of fraud. They add families should create safe passwords for phone use.
Police say these scammers are very good at what they do, and their stories are believable,
