Senior right-handed pitcher Kyle Hill was named to the watch list for the 2019 Stopper of the Year Award given to the nation’s top relief pitcher by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced this week.

For the first time in his career, Hill was named to the prestigious watch list. As a junior in 2018, the Corpus Christi native appeared in 25 games, 22 of those out of the pen. He notched career-bests with a 2.62 ERA and four wins in 55 innings pitched. He held opponents to a career-best .185 batting average, good for second-best in one season in Baylor history. He holds the Baylor record for fewest hits per nine innings in one season with 4.89h/9. As Hill enters the 2019 season, he is tied for eighth place in the Baylor career record book with 103 career strikeouts.

The Bears open up the 2019 season on Friday, Feb. 15 vs. Holy Cross at 6:35 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark.
