A barbecue fundraiser is set to be held for 4-year-old Corden Fidler, who was shot by his stepfather in December.

The fundraiser was held on March 9 from noon – 5 p.m. at the City of Burnet Fire Department at 2002 S Water St.

Corden’s father, Matthew Fidler, has been a Burnet firefighter for many years. The family will be receiving donations in exchange for a barbecue plate.

The Facebook page said all proceeds will go to Corden and his family so they can focus on what is important and give them a good foundation for a fresh start.

The proceeds will cover Corden's medical and rehabilitation costs at McLane's Children Hospital.

This comes after Corden’s stepfather, Matthew Splittgerber, shot and killed his mother Shelly and grandmother Sherry Gray on Dec. 20.

Corden has been recovering since the incident, and his family said he is experiencing “good signs” over months after being shot.

The family has set up a GoFundMe for anyone who wants to donate.
