Baylor Women's Tennis drops match to No. 23 UCF, 6-1

MIAMI, Fla. — The No. 23-ranked Central Florida Golden Knights defeated Baylor Sunday 6-1 at the USTA National Campus. UCF improved to 4-2 on the season with the victory while Baylor moved to 5-4 on the season.

Central Florida took the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles court matches to take the doubles point and won singles on the top five courts. BU freshman Paula Barañano took her second win of the season at No. 6, downing Domenika Turkovic 6-4, 6-3.

Most of the singles matches were close, notably, Dominika Sujova and Kris Sorokolet each eventually fell in three sets to their UCF counterparts.

The Golden Knights moved to 2-1 all-time vs. Baylor and have won the matchup in each of the last two seasons.

NOTABLES VS. UCF

Freshman Paula Barañano picked up her second victory of the season on the No. 6 singles court to improve to 2-3 on the year.

WHAT’S NEXT

After four matches away from home, Baylor returns to Waco Friday to host Washington State at 5 p.m. The Bears are 4-0 at home this season.
