By a vote of the Big 12 coaches, the Bears have been selected to finish second in the Big 12 preseason poll, it was announced today by the conference office.

The projected second place finish is the highest for the Bears under fourth year head coach Steve Rodriguez.

The Bears collected 58 total points and earned two first place votes. The second place projected finish ties for the highest in program history (since the inception of the poll in 1999). The last time the Bears were selected as the preseason No. 2 was in 2004 and it's the fifth time in program history the Bears have been selected second.

The Bears return the entire starting lineup and weekend pitching rotation from a 2018 team that won the Big 12 Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Regionals.

The Bears open up the 2019 campaign ranked in the top 25 in all major polls and host Holy Cross on opening weekend (Feb. 15-17).
