Suspect accused of shooting 2 women outside church found dead

One woman was killed and another is in critical condition after they were shot in a Houston-area church parking lot. The suspect was found hours later dead in a hotel room.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the women were outside Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church on Thursday night when they were shot.

Investigators named 62-year-old Arthur Edigin as a person of interest in the shooting. According to ABC 13, Edigin fatally shot his estranged wife and injured his daughter outside the church.

Edigin was found dead in a hotel room about 30 minutes away early Friday morning. 

Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church provided the following statement on the shooting:

We are saddened that such violence has visited our campus. Though it appears to be an isolated incident of a domestic dispute, the tragic assault on the two women and the dignity of human life is heartbreaking. Please join us in prayer for the families of the victims. 

According to the church. the two women were on the campus for ESL classes. They had just arrived when the shooting happened.
