In preparation for an upcoming deployment, a color casing ceremony was held at Fort Hood on Thursday.

The 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade Headquarters and Headquarters Battery hosted the traditional ceremony ahead of their nine-month deployment to Qatar.

The ceremony featured the casing of colors in honor of the soldiers and their families before they head off on their overseas mission.

"On this mission, the brigade will be responsible for coordinating air missile defense with the Army, the Air Force, Navy and each coalition country's air defense forces," said Brigade Commander Col. Curtis W. King.

The 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade Headquarters has been guarding the skies since 1918, and this marks the brigade headquarters third deployment to the U.S. central command area of operations in the last five years.
