It's human trafficking awareness month and some Central Texans’s are stepping up in the fight against human trafficking.

On Tuesday, Ark2freedom held the first of two training classes for volunteers looking to join the fight.

Ark2Freedom is a Central Texas-based nonprofit who is making it their mission to reduce the supply and demand of human trafficking. Tuesday’s class was an orientation into the program and how to identify and take action against human trafficking.

They say there is a lot of work to do and they need more people to join in order to make a real impact.

“We want to recruit personnel. We want to recruit people that can help carry forward our mission to reduce the supply and demand of human trafficking. We can’t do it all, everyone can do something, but no one can do everything,” said Kathy Ylostalo, Director of Ark2Freedom.

Ark2Freedom is set to give awareness presentations at Arusha’s Coffee Shop shop in Belton from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday.
