The Bell County-based club Guns and Glitz started over four years ago when its founder Tammy Jo McCleney, a Belton police officer, had several friends approach her on safety tips.

Since that time, the club has grown to 800 women, from ages 7 to 92.

Guns and Glitz focus on empowering women, making them feels safe, secure and also understanding the technical piece of firearms.

McCleney said that most of the women that come through the doors to her club have had some sort of abusive experience, and are looking for a way to feel more empowered.

The club is open to women that want to come. All skill levels are welcome, and the fees are minimal.
