Lady Bears revert to experience over eagerness

The Lady Bears took care of business in their Big 12 home opener on Wednesday, but now it's time for another road trip.

Baylor will face the Horned Frogs of TCU Saturday.

The ladies in purple tend to throw a lot of difference defenses at their opponents and Lady Bears Head Coach Kim Mulkey says that, aside from it being just a flat out physical game, will be their biggest test.

And while Mulkey runs with a rotation of about 8... when the going gets tough, she is apt to rely on her veterans to pull them through the not-so-pretty basketball.

"You've got freshmen on that bench that can play. It's just their behind some upperclassmen, and they've just gotta keep working, their time will come. And it's not that you're down on them, it's just what happens in conference, you go with your experience: the ones you've seen the most in those situations. And I think that that's what a lot of these freshman are gonna notice, is that wow, I wanna be in there and I don't know why I'm not, but you had to educate them... and let them know... because I've seen Kalani in that situation," Lady Bears Head Coach Kim Mulkey said. "When you get to crunch time, guys it was what, a one point game there in the third quarter, you're gonna go with the most experienced people you have... even sometimes when they may not be playing good. You keep thinking they're gonna hit that big shot, or they're gonna get that big rebound."

Coach Mulkey hopes tomorrow's game will allow time for freshman to get in and just play ball.

Tip off for the Frogs and Bears is 3 p.m. in Fort Worth.
