The Family Abuse Center is in need of donations of items for their shelter.

According to Executive Director Kathy Reid, domestic violence victims and their families often arrive to the shelter without any belongings.

She said currently, the most pressing needs for the shelter, which serves up to 600 people, include toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap and garbage bags.

"If it doesn't come through the door, through volunteers or through people donating. It means that we need to spend money that we should be using for other things," Reid said.

In addition, they also collect dressers, queen size mattress and other household items for clients transitioning into their house program.

If you would like to donate, you can drop off the items at the Second Chance Family Abuse Center Thrift Store at 1412 Sunset Street in Waco.
