Baylor softball was picked to finish third in the 2019 Big 12 Coaches Preseason Poll, announced Thursday by the conference office.

Oklahoma was the unanimous No. 1 pick in the poll, topping the ranks for the sixth-straight season.

Texas falls in at No. 2 in the poll after a 10-8 record last season, followed by the Lady Bears in third. Baylor was the only other program with a first-place vote since coaches cannot vote for their own teams. BU has been picked to finish in the top three by the conference coaches for the seventh consecutive season.

Oklahoma State checks in at No. 4 after finishing tied for second with BU in the final standings with a 12-6 record in Big 12 play.

Texas Tech (No. 5), Iowa State (No. 6), and Kansas (No. 7) round out the bottom half of the poll leading into the 2019 season.

The Lady Bears are fresh off the program’s seventh-straight NCAA Regional final appearance and 13th all-time postseason selection. In conference action, the team finished tied for second with a 12-6 record and advanced to the Big 12 Championship game in Oklahoma City.

Baylor kicks off its 2019 campaign at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puero Vallarta, Mexico, facing South Carolina, BYU, North Carolina, Liberty and Washington on Feb. 7-10.
