Texas A&M women’s basketball announced the addition of UCLA graduate transfer Ashley Hearn, a McDonald’s All-American in 2015 who was the No. 4-ranked power forward by ESPN out of high school. She is enrolled for the spring semester at Texas A&M, and can begin practice with the team immediately. She will be a senior in the 2019-20 season.

“Ashley’s length, size and ability to play the 4-position gives us flexibility and depth at the high post positions,” Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair said. “She was an excellent student at UCLA who was able to graduate in three and a half years. We recruited her out of Sachse HS, but she chose to go to UCLA, where she spent two seasons backing up some great players. We are excited to add Ashley to our team.”

Hearn comes to A&M after 49 games over two seasons at UCLA. She earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable mention as a sophomore in 2016-17, ranking 15th in the Pac-12 with 29 blocks in 27 games, scoring 39 points and grabbing 43 rebounds for the season.

She played in 22 games as a freshman in 2015-16, finishing the season with 27 rebounds and 12 blocks. Hearn missed the 2017-18 season due to injury.

Out of Sachse, Hearn was the No. 22-ranked recruit in her class by ESPN HoopGurlz, earning invitations to the Jordan Brand Classic and the McDonald’s All-American Game. She averaged 15.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game as a senior, earning District 11-6A MVP honors.

At Sachse, Hearn was also a member of the track team, competing in the 100-meter, 200-meter, high jump, shot put and discus.
