COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Aggies were honored for their character and integrity, earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Bronze Award, the organization recently announced.

Of the 64 NCAA Division I Championship participants, only three were recognized with an ethics and sportsmanship award – Hofstra, Texas A&M and South Carolina. The Aggies were the only Sweet 16 team to receive the honor.

The Bronze Award is granted to any team that accumulated yellow cards numbering between 31-50% of the games played.

The Aggies were one of just 12 NCAA Division I women’s squad to earn one of the USC Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Awards. Maine was the only NCAA Division I team to earn the Platinum Award for going the entire season without accumulating any cards.

In all, only 107 men’s or women’s soccer teams across the three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and junior college ranks earned an ethics and sportsmanship award, including seven Platinum, 19 Gold, 57 Silver and 24 Bronze.

The Aggies also earned the USC Ethics and Sportsmanship Bronze Award in 2014 and ’16.

Texas A&M wrapped up the season with a 17-5-1 mark. The Maroon & White earned a bid to their 24th consecutive NCAA Championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 15th time in school annals.
