A Texas man has been charged with cruelty of a non-livestock animal for reportedly stabbing and beheading his mother's dog.

According to the Austin-American Stateman, 18-year-old Sebastian Deen Abdullah was caring for his mother's dog for a few days in November.

His mother called Round Rock police when the dog went missing reporting Abdullah returned to her apartment with dried blood on him, saying he went camping with the 16-month-old Australian shepherd mix and that she ran away.

In an affidavit obtained by the Statesman, the mother went to her car after her son left and said it smelled like a dead animal. Officers reported seeing multiple dark stains in the trunk of the car.

She called police a few days later to report the dog's body may be in a field near her apartment complex. Police later found the dog's harness in the field along with tape with white dog hair stuck to it.

The Statesman said Abdullah told police he tied the dog to a tree with a leash and stabbed it multiple times with a kitchen knife before cutting its head off. He admitted to putting tape over the dog's mouth because it was screaming and struggling. The affidavit said Abdullah dissected the dog and looked at its intestines.

The dog's headless body was found in a bag in a river in Round Rock. It was confirmed to be his mother's dog through a microchip.

The kitchen knife Abdullah used to kill the young dog was found buried in a small hole, the Statesman said.

Abdullah now faces felony charges.
