The Waco Police Department said that a man was arrested for assaulting his mother on Monday evening.
Police said they responded to a home in the 400 block of Richland Dr. after receiving an audio alarm recording where a woman was asking for help. When police arrived on scene, she told police she was being assaulted by her son, Roberto Vilchis III.
Police said when they made contact with Vilchis, a struggle ensued. Police used a Taser on Vilchis in an attempt to calm the situation.
Vilchis took a weapon from the officers, and police said he attempted to strangle one officer on scene.
Officers were able to subdue Vilchis and take him to the McLennan County Jail where he was charged with assaulting a police officer, taking a weapon from police officer, assault family violence, resisting arrest and evading arrest on foot
Police said officers and the suspect were injured and treated on the scene during the incident.
