Governor Abbott appoints new judge to 10th Court of Appeals

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed a new judge for the 10th Court of Appeals in McLennan County.

Judge John Neill will serve his term until Dec. 31, 2020, or until his successor is elected and qualified.

The governor's office said Neill earned his Bachelor of Arts in history from Baylor University and a Juris Doctor degree from St. Mary's Univerity School of Law.

Neill, from Burleson, served as judge of the 18th Judicial District Court for over 20 years. 

He is board-certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Johnson County Bar Association. He is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Neill also founded CASA in Johnson County and is an ordained Baptist Deacon.
