Home Instead Senior Care in Temple wraps gifts for the seniors in Bell County that go without family during the holidays.

The Be a Santa to a Senior program started in Bell County five years ago and each year, the number of gifts increases. It started with a little over 100 seniors and this year 450 are in need. With 50 seniors still left to be cared for. Blankets, socks, warm pajama pants and toiletries were the most asked for gifts.

The gifts will be given through the next week in gift bags that were designed by Scott Elementary kids.

Knowing that home instead is making someone's holiday a better one is all they can ask for as they wrap presents today.

"The few times I've actually gotten to meet some of the recipients they cried, they're just, thank you, thank you, thank you um it just means the world to them," Brandy Firebaugh, the franchise owner, said.

According to home instead, they see seniors' health decrease faster when they don't have family around to visit. They hope the gifts they bring will add a little more love to their holiday season.

To donate and help the remaining seniors you can drop gifts off at the Home Instead Senior Care facility in Temple or visit their website for more information.
