Temple police are reporting a rise in the number of car thefts in the city.

“We’re always having problems with people having their car stolen. Take your keys inside. Do not leave spare keys in your vehicle. That’s a problem we’re having all over Temple,” said Temple Police spokesperson Ellen Morton.

Morton says the rash of theft reports has surged in the holiday season.

“People leave their cars unlocked all the time. So make sure whether you’re at home, you’re at wallchart. It doesn’t matter where you lock your car,” said Morton.

Anyone with information regarding a theft is asked to contact Temple Police.
