The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed three players on the American Football Coaches Association’s (AFCA) All-America Teams released Monday, December 10th. The Cru had one First Team selection and placed two players on the Second Team.

Joey Longoria was named to the All-America First Team as a defensive tackle. The junior from Pearland High School has 62 total tackles and 12.0 tackles for loss to go with a team-high 8.0 sacks. Longoria has also broken up four passes and has two fumble recoveries on the year. He was also voted American Southwest Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year this season.

Markeith Miller and Jefferson Fritz both claimed spots on the All-America Second Team. Miller, a senior running back from Garland High School has rushed for 1,774 yards and a school and conference record 29 touchdowns on the year. He also broke the UMHB and ASC career records for rushing yardage and rushing touchdowns this season while earning ASC Offensive Player of the Year honors. Fritz, a sophomore free safety from Kaufman High School, broke the UMHB and ASC single-season record with 11 interceptions this season. He also has seven pass break-ups and 37 total tackles on the year. Fritz was voted ASC Defensive Player of the Year.

UMHB improved to 14-0 with a victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater in the NCAA Semifinals on Saturday. The Cru now advances to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl for the third straight season. UMHB will face Mount Union for the national championship at 6 pm Friday night in Shenandoah, Texas.
