The Cove, a non-profit organization here in Waco to help homeless teenagers, is hosting their annual Christmas party Friday.

This time, they are giving back to the ones that have given to them all year long. The Cove has had a remarkable year receiving more donations and help than they expected.

In return, they decided to give three awards to individuals and groups in the community that has given so much.

The individual of the year, the foundation of the year and the community group of the year will each receive the first ever Cove Awards.

The foundation of the year was awarded to the Magnolia Foundation, the individual of the year was awarded to Sue Getterman and Community group of the year awarded to Judi Neville and her book club.

"And this year has been a big year for us so we have been grateful to have some new donors and also some donors who have been part of our work since the beginning," Kelly Atkinson Executive Director of The Cove said.

Neville is humbled to know that she is helping the ones that need it.

"Just the good that it does the kids. It gets the kids off the street. I mean can you imagine being 14 years old and you don't have anywhere to sleep," Neville said.

She and her book club make a home cooked meal for the teenagers every Tuesday and hand deliver it.

"When they deliver the food, the gals tell me that they run out to greet 'em and they're just so appreciative," Neville said.

"I know all of us we just get more out of it then we put into it," Neville said. "And it warms our heart to know that these kids are helped by what we do."
