The Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation has been around for more than 25 years.

Their purpose is to enhance the quality of education for all students in Belton ISD.

"We help to raise money through community business partners to raise funds to enrich the education of Belton ISD students," Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation Board Member Scott Janes said.

This is something the foundation has been doing since 1992.

"We provided this last year over $230,000 worth in scholarships for students, over $60,000 in teachers and para-professional grants and the newest initiative is that we helped partially fund or help defray some of the expenses for high school students taking dual credit courses," Janes said.

These are all things that can't be done without donations which is why, for the first time, Frank's Marina on Lake Belton is stepping in.

"We like to be part of the community and we like to advance education in any way that we can," Frank's Marina General Manager Joey Peters said. "We are going to have Santa down here, we are inviting kids and there parents to come out and enjoy a boat ride with him down to BLORA which is where they have the trail of lights this year and you'll get the chance to see them from the water."

The Sailing with Santa boat ride, complete with hot cocoa and cookies will last about an hour. The event is one the Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation said they are excited to see happen.

"It's really awesome, that's the way our organization continues to grow and flourish," Peters said.

If you are hoping to set sail with Santa, the event kicks off at 5 p.m. on Dec.15. You're encouraged to call Frank's Marina at (254) 939-7443 to reserve your spot by Dec. 14.

The boat ride is $25 a person.
