Fire department rescues kayaker on Lake Waco

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

The Waco Fire Department said that multiple units rescued a kayaker on Lake Waco on Friday afternoon. They said they were able to rescue the kayaker within 10 minutes thanks to his exact directions to his location.

The fire department said that the kayaker had launched at Woodway Park in the morning and went duck hunting. He was heading back when his kayak began to take on water. 

To make matters worse, he was wearing waders, and they were also taking on water. He was wearing a life jacket. He had his cell phone on him and was able to call for help. 

The fire department was able to quickly find him and rescue him from the water. He was taken to the hospital. 

They said he is doing okay after the incident.
