Marlin police have shut down a gas station after uncovering an illegal gambling operation.

The department carried out a search warrant at the Qwik Stop Gas Station around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Inside, police found nine gambling machines in a hidden room at the back of the store.

They uncovered $15,000 in cash and also found drug paraphernalia.

Officers arrested Gagandeep Kaur and took her to the Falls County Jail.

She is charged with gambling promotion.

Police say she has immigration holds resulting from other illegal activities.

Yesterday's search comes after a year-long investigation conducted by Marlin police and the Falls County District Attorney's Office.

During the investigation, an undercover officer was able to gamble on one of the machines and cash out their winnings.

The department says it has several arrest warrants for other individuals involved.
