A Whitney woman who was arrested in July for theft was arrested again on Monday for forgery charges.

Police said they arrested 54-year-old Pamela Alberts for 19 counts of forgery involving Salvation Army checks. She was serving as a board member for the Hill County Salvation Army when she committed the forgery.

In July 2018, she admitted to stealing thousands of dollarsfrom the Lake Whitney Ministerial Alliance for her own personal use.

She claimed to have stolen around $67,000 from the church organization, but further review of its financial accounts shows the amount was closer to $85,000. Alberts served as the church organization's treasurer.

Whitney police said they will continue to investigate.
