Waco drivers will soon have to drive around construction barrels again as TxDOT starts the next phase of the Interstate 35 expansion.

The eight-mile construction zone will run right through Waco from North Loop 340 to South Loop 340, adding three lanes on each side, expanding the four-lane interstate into a six-lane.

Church Under the Bridge has been conducting their service under I-35 and 4th Street for the past 26 years and now they will have to relocate. Magnolia Market at the Silos recently announced that they were going to allow the church to hold service on its grounds.

Church Under the Bridge started off as a bible study when five homeless men asked Jimmy Dorrell to conduct it for them. Now, Dorrell is a pastor to almost 300 people every Sunday.

"We're happy where ever we go," Dorrell said. "And so we knew if it ever happen that we had to move we would have to find a place so we were never anxious about it and it turns out we got a better deal anyway."

Dorrell isn't upset about the move at all and neither is Beverly Chatman who has been attending service for 10 years.

"I am very excited because I am an outdoorsy kind of girl myself and like I said its a lovely group of people they always give you hugs," Chatman said.

Church Under the Bridge aren't the only ones that will be affected. Project 4 will be almost eight miles long and will impact business homes and other churches.

Although TxDOT has not released a scheduled ending date yet, Dorrell and his church choose to keep looking up, to the brighter side of things.
